Commemorative “Chant-A-Thon” January 9-16

Through chanting we can learn more about Buddhism, clear our minds of everyday concerns, and reflect on the lives of those who came before us.

The temple will offer the opportunity to experience these benefits once, twice or for an entire week through chanting sutras (Buddhist scriptures) with Sensei Katsuya Kusinoki. Dates and times are January 9 to 16 between 10 and 11 a.m.

This is a special event is to commemorate the passing of Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, as it is done at our Mother Temple in Kyoto, Japan.

No previous experience in chanting, knowledge of the sutras or background in Jodo Shinshu are necessary. Those who prefer not to chant, but only to listen may do so. Bring an open mind, a desire to learn and water to sip when your throat gets dry.
