APPRECIATION
The Buddhist Churches of America Department of Buddhist
Education is publishing a collection of minisermons, submitted by
Rev. Chijun Yakumo, who was born in Kurayoshi-city, Tottori
Prefecture in Japan on August 26,1939.
Rev. Yakumo came to the United States in 1969 to serve as a minister with the Buddhist Churches of America. He has served the San Diego Buddhist Church, Seattle Betsuin, Visalia and Dinuba Buddhist Churches and is currently at the Salt Lake Bud- dhist Temple.
Several of his articles appeared in recent issues of the Wheel of Dhartna. These minisermons were compiled by Rev. Yakumo dur- ing his almost twenty years as a BCA minister.
May the words of wisdom found in Rev. Yakumo’s miniser- mons serve to further our understanding of the Nembutsu teaching.
We are grateful to the BCA Sustaining Membership for funding this publication and to Mrs. Joyce Teague, a member of the Bud- dhist Temple of San Diego, for editing Rev. Yakumo’s manuscript.

In Gassho,

Rev. George E. Shibata, Interim Director, Dept. of Buddhist Education
