Eitaikyo Muen Hoyo & Seattle Betsuin Anniversary on Sunday Nov 11th

On Sunday November 11th. Bishop Tatsuya Aoki (from Canada Kyodan), Reverend Noriaki Kitabatake, Reverend Hikari Nakano, and Ms. Sala Izawa (all Hongwanji staff) are coming to visit the Seattle Betsuin. They will all be attending service and participating in our Chigo procession.

After regular service, Bishop Aoki will be attending Dharma exchange and the Hongwanji staff will hold a panel in Japanese facilitated by Reverend Katsu.

Northwest Sangha Celebration Saturday Nov 3rd!

Come meet fellow buddhists and celebrate the spirit of Buddhism in our Northwest community. Nalanda West and the Northwest Dharma Association are hosting a day long celebration this Saturday, Nov 3rd from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm for Buddhists from varying traditions to discuss, share and celebrate together. Nalanda West is located at 3902 Woodland Park Ave N, Seattle.

The Betsuin’s participation will be the chanting of the Ojoraisan. Our participation slot is from 2:00-2:30.In preparation there will be practice sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (October 31st-November 2nd) of next week at 10:00 am at the temple. Wednesday’s morning service will be combined with a chanting practice session. There is also a gourmet lunch with a $10 suggested donation.

The ABC’s of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism – Sunday Nov 4th

Join us in the hondo for an introductory class on the ABC’s of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism. Learn about the origins of Jodo Shinshu and enjoy the lessons that Reverend Katsu has prepared for everyone. This course will cover beginner level Jodo Shinshu knowledge and will give attendees a knowledge base for our particular sect of Buddhism.

The class will start at noon on Sunday, November 4th. It will be about 45 minutes to an hour and will be held in the main hall following dharma school and dharma exchange. The class is free to attend and all are welcome.
